|Any War Vets in the Family?
Of the wars in Early America very little concerning the part taken by these mountain people can be found. Practically, the veteran of the Revolutionary
War was also a Veteran of the War of 1812. If he did not go to the front in that war it was because his services were not demanded. The same is true of
the Mexican War. The men were willing to go, but the fighting was in a place remote from them and there was never a need for calling out of large armies.
The Civil War, however, was a different story.
So that I could track down records, I decided to match up the men in my lineage to see who might have taken part in a conflict. I created a table with the
names and years of their lives, then matched it up with the various conflicts throughout history. As you can see in some cases the ages just were not right
for them to have participated. The ones I did find have documentation available.
